The Museum affords a unique, impressive panorama glorifying the automobile industry from its very beginnings to modern times, with a star place reserved for the car considered to be the most prestigious in the world - Ettore Bugatti's very own Royale. Renovated in 2006, the museum offers high-performance interactive facilities: 28 films are shown on plasma screens. Simulators give you the opportunity to experience the vibrations, shakes and roars of a Formula One. You can also start up a period car with a handle and even change a Formula One wheel! You can also try out the somersaulting car simulator while children can have fun with the mini go-karts.

Histoire du musée

The first automobile museum in the world! The first automobile museum in the world! Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes and almost all the other prestigious names in the auto industry are presented in the National Automobile Museum the Schlumpf Collection. Over 500 vehicles are on display, including 464 cars of 98 different makes: a unique and impressive tribute to the car industry, from its origins to nowadays. The star is the most prestigious car in the world: Bugatti's own car, the Royale . The Schlumpf collection spans 20,000 square meters (200,000 square feet), with 2 km (over 1 mile) of wide walkways, illuminated by retro street lights, duplicates of those on Alexander III bridge in Paris. From the ingenious Jacquot built in 1878 to the Xenia, the prototype of the car of the future, all these automobiles testify to the carmakers' genius and their workers' workmanship. Created in 1989, the Learning Center spans close to 1,000 square meters (10,000 square feet) and teaches how a car runs through audio-visual aids, mock-ups and exploded views. Permanent exhibitions include Citroën - Paul Arzens - Esders Roadster: reconstitution of the Royale - a complete panorama of Panhard and Levassor, the oldest make reconstitution of scenes from 1890 to 1930. Audio-receivers in French, German and English.
